    Good afternoon my name is SFC Jason Taylor, today I am attending the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Empowerment Tour here at San Francisco State college, San Francisco, CA. The reason why I am here today is to show the young African-American youth and youth in general that the Army is about building a stronger younger generation for tomorrow's leaders of the world. Today's activities are centered on Leadership Development classes, given by some inspiring speakers such as CPT Pope of the US Army Cadet Command.     I am the son of soldier. My entire dad's side of the family has served in the military since the Revolutionary war. I have always been inspired by my dad, and soon I plan to follow in the footsteps of my family. I have given so much thought to this. Since my early childhood, I always thought it was so cool my dad was in the army. It wasn't until later that I could truly understand and appreciate what he did. The end of my highschool career is approaching quickly, and hopefully it will be the beginning of not only my college career, but my Army career.
     
  • MP Really Does Stand For "Multi Purpose"

    When I first joined the army to become an MP I didn't realize that it shouldn't stand for "military police" but rather "multi purpose". When I was in deployment training I was pretty much taught the same that everybody else was taught during field exercises. As a gunner I had to learn to look out for IED's and do my 5's 25's 200's and UP... ect.. But after getting deployed to Afghanistan I believe that my training was rather lacked in categories that I'm currently assigned too. Ive been in Afghanistan for a little over a month now.
