Once a semester, we go to a different location for a field training exercise.  This semester we went to Camp Perry and conducted training, through rain and through shine.  A large focus while we were there was Land Navigation.  MS 1's and MS 2's were sent in groups, and MS 3's navigated individually.  We were given 5 different distance and directions to work on our pace count and ability to use a compass. I personally prefer to run on Land Nav but many walk.   Many of us did very well and were sent back out with a second set of 5.  We conducted night Land Navigation once it was dark outside with the same idea.  At night time we are required to find 3 of 5 points to be given a "GO."  The next day was STX Lanes for MS3's and Shoothouse training for MS1's and MS2's.  STX Lanes are heavily targeted by MS3's who are preparing for LDAC.  We take turns with different positions for lanes so everyone gets to work on their leadership skills.  Overall, everytime we spend a weekend at training I think everyone benefits.  We are also able to practice Garrison Leadership while we are out there and that also helps to prepare for LDAC.  After a long weekend of MRE's, rain, and rigorous training we return the University of Toledo where we continue training weekly at our leadership labs.
