Yesterday was the third day of building robots with our German counterparts at the University of Koblenz. We spent the first two days building and hardwiring our robot and joystick. Yesterday we were tasked with writing a program to upload to the robot that would make the robot sync with the joystick and move appropriately based on our joystick movements. This task presented many problems. We found that not only our robot, but other groups’ robots as well would lock in on one joystick command given and continuously repeat that command despite others given. To troubleshoot this problem we re-checked our program and the wires on our robot to make sure everything was done correctly. Unfortunately we were unable to isolate the problem by the end of the day. Today we hope to upload a program known to work in order to determine whether we have a programming error or a possible problem with wiring or a chip on the robot. Our goal for today is to have a working robot that will follow our basic joystick commands accurately.
