My Experience as a Jaguar Active Duty Green to Gold Cadet
October 4, 2010
I have to say that my experience as a cadet has been rewarding, too good to be true. As an Active Duty Option Scholar there are many great benefits of the program. The Scholarship is designed to recruit enlisted Soldiers in the service who meet the criteria of the program. As a prior service NCO (SFC) the program gave me the opportunity to attend college as a full time student, work on my Bachelor’s Degree while creating both security and stabilization for me and my family for two years without having to separate from the service. The greatest part of being an Active Duty Green to Gold Cadet is the continuance of my allowance and benefits as a SFC but also the tuition assistance from the MGI BILL that pays for college up until I graduate and commission. A personal benefit of the program is that I was privileged to meet and interact with new comrades and had the opportunity to learn, develop and distribute my knowledge among my peers. Being in the service for 13 years gave me a slight advantage over most of my peers in leadership skills, army stories but most importantly how the Army worked. This positively brought a sense of teamwork and solidity within the Jaguar family creating and launching an environment of stellar competitors keeping us all within a thin line between the best and the best. I’ve learned that I can be a leader, competitor, and follower. I was given the chance to represent the battalion and distinguish myself on numerous occasions. From participating in historical events for our community and University, attending Air Assault School at FT Knox, KY to graduating the Leadership Development Assessment Course at FT Lewis, WA with excellent rating. My ultimate goal is to graduate with honors and continue the fight as an Army Officer. I would like to dedicate my service to both my Mother Evelyn Hidalgo and Uncle Danny Alvarez who were my biggest mentors.

Hello, I recently heard about being a full time student while going Green to Gold. I'm trying to find out more information for my husband, who is interested in the program. We are currently station in Ft lewis Wa. Any information on how the program works or how we can get information on getting into the program would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much

I was doing some research on the AD GTG program, and came across your blog. My wife is extremely interested in doing the same program, for basically the same reasons. She is in Afghanistan (via Ft. Gordon) and wants to start to put her packet together. Is there a POC she could talk to, IRT dual military waivers, and the whole overall process. Please submit your reply to michael.blakeslee1@us.army.mil.
Thanks
