  • Spirit of America in Highland Heights, KY

    September 20, 2010

This past Saturday, the Columbus Recruiting Battalion participated in a fantastic event called the Spirit of America down at the Northern Kentucky University arena.  With 121 Future Soldiers and 168 Family members, our future Warriors reaffirm their commitment to join the U.S. Army with a swear-in at the beginning of the 2nd half of the show in front of 6000 people.

For those that have not had the opportunity to see the Spirit of America event, you should definately take the advantage of the free event when it comes around to your area!  The two hour performance that is led by Brigadier General Horst, the Commanding General of Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and the U.S. Military District of Washington, consists of an action packed reinactment of Army engagements over the past 235 years by the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment.  In addition, the show also contains performances by the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the U.S. Army Drill Team, and the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own".  For more information and upcoming locations, make sure that you check out the Spirit of America's website at http://spiritofamerica.mdw.army.mil/index.html .

Our Soldiers, current and future, had an absolutely fantastic time at this event!  Without a doubt, this performance hit every individuals heart and exemplified what it means to be a Soldier.  For a few videos and pictures of the event, make sure to check out our facebook page at the links below.
