Trample the weak! Hurdle the dead!

"Front leaning rest position... move" the Drill Sergeant said.
It was another moment of corrective training for our platoon. It should have been a moment where I was: upset, embarrassed, angry. You name the feeling and I should have had it.
This time it was different. With the hot pavement cutting into my palms the only thing I could do was smile. It was the first time at LTC where the reason for our corrective training didn't matter. It didn't matter which Cadet messed up or even how. Our platoon was getting better with each push up we did. That was what mattered."Lean left...lean right!" the Drill Sergeant said.
It was in that moment that I realized that I looked at everything a little bit differently. I wasn't worried about how tired this work out would make me or how long this session would last. It didn't matter because I knew, no matter what, that I could handle it and succeed. I think that was the most important thing I learned from LTC.
"The flutter kick... move!"
