  • What Being a Soldier ment to me !

    May 9, 2010

What being a soldier men't to me came to light on sept 11, 2001 while enjoying leave with my then husband in his home town a short Drive from our Post of Ft.Rucker. We were enjoying our last day of leave which ironically was to end at midnight on the 13, sept. We slept in enjoying a peaceful sleep to only be awoken by the phone losing it's mind on the wall , my ex answered to my horror I could here his mom , crying on the other line ! we ran to the TV, just as the second plane hit , we were horror struck but new what had to be done , before even thinking about recall . We packed our stuff my ex called our unit and reported we would be coming home early. The next 2yr's were a wohrl wind my husband gone, I had just had our son 7 month's prior to his Deployment.I was scared I would be next not for my life but leaving our son. Being a medic Ment being Needed Badly, My Ex Husband was deployed for what seemed like forever .When My ex returned home it wasn't right away I went , But it came it was nov 2005 I was headed to ramadi, now Divorced with my son still a young little guy I was scared what if I never came home . But then I was online seeing video's and even saw some buddie's from prior unit's and post and comfort came , it could be my buddie's, or there buddie's , but then I realized , it wasn't just that it was someone's Son, Daughter, Father, Wife, Husband But then I realized someone's mother!, All my achievment's ment nothing no school or prior MOS I held , Not my Airborne , Airassualt badges ment as much as the one that counted MEDIC, now US.ARMY Combat Medic. I was never so proud in my life even if I didn't make it home I know I helped some else to,Day's passed slowly mission's Felt like slow motion, My heart was on constant Adrenline, my Body and mind constant Vigil. I returned home on Nov 17, 2006 In vegas to Family and friend's I was elated . But in shock of my reception not just from Family but Stranger's I am so Proud I served the world's Best Army . I am proud to have served.

You have sure been thru the mill, but you must be very proud knowing you have made this world a better place for your son to grow up in. Thanks for all you've done - after all, you were doing it for us total strangers, too! :)
