Soldier Blog Post

Happy Holidays!!!

December 28, 2010

Hooah! It has been a remarkable year, full of challenges, triumphs, blood, sweat, and tears. I know that if we could avoid the storms we would, but we do not have that luxury. The storms, tests, and trials make us or break us. Without them we would not be the soldiers that we are today. I have concluded my first year of service with my unit and it has been my honor to know these men and women. It is humbling to be the lowest ranking officer in the unit and to sit in staff meetings with high ranking field grade officers where my fellow junior officers: 1LTs and CPTs are told to "scram."

I know that the new year holds many new tests, trials, and storms.  However, I know that many triumphs, blessings, graces, new mercies, and VICTORIES await in the service of God and Country.  My fellow soldiers either "get" the Chaplain or they do not, that DOES NOT deter me one bit. I take my job as seriously as a Ranger takes his mission seriously. My weapons are not carnal, they are spiritual and I see myself as fighting the war on a spiritual level.

Ephesians 6:11-18 (King James Version)

 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

God bless all of you and your families
with a prosperous and safe new year.
