Here is another video from Haiti.  It is a bit short, but it shows how nuts it was during a food distribution at an IDP camp.

This was the Delmas 48 (golf Course camp).  This was the camp that was always in the news because J/P HRO (Jenkins/Penn Haitian Relief Org)

For those who don't know or remember this was Sean Penns' "Camp".  Nothing against Mr. Penn, but he he used his fame way too much to pressure people to help in a limited way at only 1 or 2 camps.

By the time I left Haiti in Late April, there were over 1,000 known camps form 100 to 60,000 people each.  It is great that he helped at least 50,000, but this is a city of over 3 million and a country of over 10 million. 

The effort of J/P HRO are commendable, but these types of one off organizations need to get themselves into the overall national strategy with UNHCR, OCHA, USAID and the host nation government.  The problem is that once you do something for one you have to do it for all.  I don't think that J/P HRO can fix all of Haiti without international support.

Once again, it falls into the "disaster tourist" mentality.  Great your here to help, but leave your pet projects and agenda at the the airport!!.
