FBI Academy AIAD

August 21, 2011

I had the privilege of taking part in an internship at the FBI Acedemy in Quantico, VA for four and a half weeks this summer.  The FBI Academy is a 20 week program designed to turn qualified civilians and military personnel into Special Agents, a coveted and respected position within the FBI.  For the first two weeks of my AIAD, I was assigned to the Curriculum Development and Evaluation Unit (CDEU). CDEU designs the course materials and lessons which are taught to the New Agents in training. Most of the courses are taken by the student online at his or her own pace. These courses are broken into modules which cover different lessons on a certain subject. My job was to edit these programs for style, content, and spelling and grammatical errors. By going through the actual courses, I was able to learn the same material as the New Agents in training. Some of the courses I completed were: Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, Human Source Validation, Mortgage Fraud, FBI Airport Liaisons, and Field Evidence.
