Hey everyone. It has been an eventful few months! Lots of successful missions from the men in B/6-4 CAV. And lots of successful FIRE MISSIONS by the men of 1/A/1-6 FA. We have stayed busy indeed. We have had a lot of good times and we have built up the Gunline in the meantime as well. We now have our own MWR room complete with a 42" TV just waiting on a game system to complete the mix. The room was built entirely by the Soldiers of 1st Platoon with the guidance and support of some...read more

Smooth transition to rockets, recoilless rifles, and mortars - Oh my!

Well it has definitely been a while since my last post, but in my defense things have definitely been picking up! My counter part [LT Sasaki] and I have traded positions, moving him into the FSO slot and myself into the Platoon Leader/FDO slot. The change is going well, and each of us is excited to work with new groups of Soldiers and see Artillery life from different perspectives. I'm just glad we both get to stay out here and not have to switch to different COPs! We have steadily been...read more

The days going by faster and faster. Some days are long, but because there is so much to do it seems like there isn't enough time to get it all done! But we always make it happen. It's good to be busy because it makes the time go by fast. It's crazy to sit down and just think about how much we've accomplished since getting here 4 1/2 months ago. Tons. It is pretty cool also to be able to say that during my first deployment US Forces took down Osama Bin Laden....read more

Decided to take a break out of today for a short blog session. Woke up. Ate some awesome food products that the lovely wife sent from home. Fruit cocktail, pop tarts, V8 fruit fusion. Delicious. Had some meetings. Caught up with some of my recent ANA friends. Pretty cool. I mean how many people do you know that have friends in the Afghan National Army? Interesting guys. The language barrier isn't really that big a deal. Tried to learn how to play their dice game. I taught them...read more

With all the talk of the pay freeze going on back home it seems like its been ruffling a few feathers. There's a lot of negative talk around the media and on the internet. I stopped for a minute to reflect, and I can't help but to have noticed one thing - that despite the possibility that our Soldiers may not be receiving pay on the 1st or 15th for the work they do, they still do it. With a positive outlook and a "roger that" our Soldiers get the job done....read more

So the first 90 days are down. The OPTEMPO is up now. The fighting season has started. Everyone is staying busy here. The internet is getting better than it was when we got here. Can't complain. Mail takes a while to get here so that is really the only big issue we have. Other than that things are great! Just waiting for leave now ha ha. Well gotta hit the gym. Talk to y'all later! Brad

Well its been a few days since I last posted! Its been busy. Internet has been up and down. Got a new cook. He made some awesome stuffed bell peppers the other day that tasted amazing!! That was cool. Just running patrols and what not. The days are blowing by super fast so thats good. Hopefully it keeps up like that, I'm sure it will. The gym is still the place to be when I have downtime. I can see how ppl get huge over deployment bc thats the only thing there is to do for fun! But its...read more
