What a way to start the week! I'm sitting in the ROTC Award Luncheon as ROTC Cadets from across the nation are recognized for "Leadership Excellence". General Robert W. Cone, Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) imparts some words of wisdom on what we're doing to shape the Army for the future.

Today is the last day of the festival and it'is winding down nicely. We're at the SuperDone tonight about to go onstage in front of thousands of people for the Army's Moment during the concert where we will represent U.S. Army Cadet Command on stage with the Deputy Commanding General, General Barrye Price as he presents 2 checks totaling over 13 million dollars signifying the amount of ROTC Scholarships awarded to students attending HBCUs across the country.I worked the Army ROTC...read more

I'm on the ground in New Orleans, LA about to kick off three days of working the Army exhibit at The ESSENCE Music Festival. Activities will be happening here at the convention and the Superdome, and the schedule is jam packed with an impressive list of recording artist and celebrities. The festival has started off with a bang down here in the "Big Easy". The Army has a variety of different opportunities available for folks to learn about the different jobs and education available to the youth, or should I Say tomorrow's leaders! Not a bad meal today at the luncheon; sitting with the Army leadership supporting this conference. USAREC Deputy Commanding General BG Bryan Roberts, Cadet Command Deputy Commanding General COL (P) Barrye Price and 2nd Recruiting Brigade Commander COL Glenn Richie. What a great night of mingling with the top leadership of the city and 100 BMOA at City Hall, a fantastic venue to formerly kick off the conference. Had the opportunity to hear the current Mayor, Edwin M. Lee, San Francisco's first Chinese-American Mayor welcome everyone to the city as well as the Chairman of the 100 Black Men of America, Albert E. Dotson, Jr., Esq. on the significance of this year being the 25th anniversary of the organization.
