I'm on active duty & i do not like my current MOS (25B) so I'm seriously considering reclassing into the 46Q MOS. I do photography work along with a little bit of video production work outside of the army. So i'm wondering if this MOS would be a great fit for me. Any insight you can provide me would be great. SGT,

From what you say here, it sounds like either 46Q or 46R might be good fits to your personal interests. Keep in mind that these careers are Public Affairs and not just video or photography, although that is part of the job. There is a lot of writing, briefings, and presentations and other Army staff work that has nothing to do with Photography or Video. So if specifically doing photo/video work is your primary interest, you might also check out 25V, Combat Camera Documentation. Not that I want to turn people away from PA, but just do your research and make sure that if you are reclassing out of a CMF you don't enjoy, that you know exactly what you are reclassing to. Good luck.

    SFC Beach,

I just had a question on assignments. I am reclassing to 46R in May and am curious where I might end up. I have a unique situation in that my spouse has a chronic illness which forced me to settle my family in NJ. Because of this I would need to either be assigned close enough to drive home each night or unaccompanied OCONUS. As you've probably already guessed I am the sole provider for my family and won't be able to afford a mortgage and rent. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
