Korea CULP 2011 - Homestay
July 8, 2011
On our trip to Korea we were also given the opportunity to stay with a fellow ROTC cadet from the Korean Army. I can definitely say that it was one of the most memorable parts of my trip and also one of the more educational times. By staying with him for a night and two days I was able to see more into the life of a normal Korean family. One can go to another country and see the different monuments and landmarks that its famous for but until you actually interact with the people you will never understand it. By visiting his house I not only was able to interact with the different individuals but was also able to see how they interact with each other.
I was definitely nervous at first because of the language barrier but his family was very welcoming and made me feel at home. My only regret is that I wasn't able to spend more time with them. However, I know that I made a great friend and hopefully when I come back to visit we can meet again.
