Hairaton, Afghanistan - On the Uzbekistan Border

March 27, 2010

Wanted to attach a link to a story I published today about Hairaton logistics at the Afghan/Uzbek border

Link

Some of my favorite photos from the story

A view of the river and streetside from a building in Hairiton.  You can see the German force protection team with their armored vehicles in the background.

Lieutenant Csech, Hungarian Army, on the left was our joint visitor bureau guide at Camp Marmal.  He arranged transportation and tents for us :)

Maj Gen McMahon presents a unit coin to the mayor of Hairiton.  The mayor presented Afghan coats (?) to the delegation.

German security detail at the Afghan/Uzbek border.

Me at the rail yard.  Containers are off-loaded at the rail yard and put on trucks.  We are hoping to expand the rail line further south to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

German security detail and a goat wait for the train to pass by :)

I suppose the place where the Army trucks and the red fire brigades are standing is Afghanistan. If not, please let me know.

    Nice pics

    Thanx and regards
