In showcasing the Army and connecting America's Army with America's people, the US Army Marksmanship Unit's (USAMU) International Rifle, Shotgun, Service Pistol, and Action Shooting Sections hosted four interactive shooting events for a combination of youth, high school, and college students. An ARMY STRONG EXPERIENCE comprised of impressive capability demonstrations of some of the finest Soldiers in the world (Rangers in Action, Mission Support Battalion Army Adventure Exhibit Vehicles, USAMU Shotgun demonstration, Airborne 5000, and Hands on Training Exercise or HOTEX) from the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE) and Fort Benning kicked off a 2011 Collegiate Rifle Championship and three marksmanship clinics to include a Scholastic Steel Challenge, a Scholastic Clay Target Program, and a USAMU Service Pistol Junior Clinic. The ARMY STRONG EXPERIENCE enabled nearly 500 participants from 17 states, which included more than 400 High School students from six area High Schools, 60 centers of influence from eight High Schools and School Districts, three Universities, and US Army Accessions Command Grassroots Advisory Board attendees to witness a "Strength like no other" - our Soldiers in action. USAMU is grateful to the MCOE and its units who proudly showcased their unique capabilities and enabled all participants to learn more first-hand about the US Army, its remarkable Soldiers, and its tremendous opportunities - the 4th Ranger Training Battalion, the Ranger Training Brigade, the 1st Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the 199th Infantry Brigade, 1st and 2nd Battalions, 29th Infantry Regiment, and the 197th Infantry Brigade.
