Denver; I kinda want to move here now

October 8, 2010

I had the priveledge of spending four days in Denver, Colorado for the last four days.  I absolutely love it here.  I was in town to spend some time training Future Soldiers and give them some insight on modern basic training.  I was able to tell them some of what to expect on the first step to becoming a Soldier, and to put a little fear in them.  That's my job.  Denver is a great city and I was able to spend some time with Future Soldiers, as well as future family, as I will be getting married next August and some of my in-law family resides in Denver.  It was a remarkable time.

As everyone knows, recruiters, especially Army recruiters, have a bad rap in public opinion.  It is unfounded, however, unavoidable.  It goes with the territory.  The recruiters that work for the Denver Battalion are among the best in the Army, in my opinion.  It was truly a joy to work with them.  They devote much of their time, some of it could be off time no less, to training their Future Soldiers.  They take this aspect of their job very seriously.  I can honestly say that if I were considering joining the Army, and I were not already a Soldier, I would want one of them to be my recruiter.

As a Drill Sergeant Exhibitor, I travel all over the country and interact with many prospective recruits, Future Soldiers, current Soldiers, recruiters, and celebrities.  This particular trip was the highlight of my time doing this job.  Everyone, from my point of contact down to the lowest level of not even in the Army yet recruit, was stellar.

I will be in Indianapolis in a couple of weeks for Future Farmers of America.  If you're interested, and you enjoy doing PT, come by.  If you're serious about joining the Army, bear with me, as I might tell you to move to Denver and join the Army utilizing the services of one of the fine Americans/Soldiers/recruiters I just spent time with.
