Education: Past and Present

October 30, 2010

As I introduced last week, ROTC has encouraged and motivated me to grow in many aspects of my life.  The educational part of my life is no exception.  This week has been a particularly challenging week academically, and two tests loom over my head for next week.  There is never a dull moment at this school.

However, since I joined the program a year ago, I no longer view education as "just something you have to get through."  I used to hate school and the work that came with it, and instead took pleasure in slacking off whenever I could.  Now, I see my education as my job, and never let it be said that I didn't work my hardest at my job.  It's become my goal for me to say about everything I do, " I gave my very best."

I attribute this turnaround to God.  He has used ROTC as the mechanism for change in my life.  Through the program, He has given me the drive to work hard and the ability enjoy the material I'm learning.  Now, I like my job, Military Science is fascinating, and I'm very blessed to get the opportunity to attend school for a secondary education.
