ILE at Fort Lee, VA
January 5, 2012
I reported to ILE at Fort Lee, VA on 04 JAN 2012 and I'm a part of class #12-001. There are a total of 64 students in the class with all branches being represented and most functional areas as well. These students come to ILE with a wealth of experience. The class is mainly made-up of Majors but we do have some Captains and Lieutenant Colonels. We complete the core phase of ILE in the next 3 1/2 months with a graduation date of 18 APR 2012. Once the core phase is completed we will complete the remainder of the course through correspondence. We are given a year to complete the remainder of ILE through correspondence. There is a lot of assigned reading and writing with several interesting trips scheduled throughout Virginia. We are broken into Staff Groups (A-D) of around 16 students per group. You attend ILE at Fort Lee on a TDY status if you are not stationed here and billeting is at a hotel of your choice as long as it doesn’t cost more than the allowed rate. You are also given a per diem rate of $47 a day to pay for meals and incidentals. The classroom instruction normally starts around 0800 HRS and end by 1200 HRS which allows you time for the daily required reading and writing assignments. This course will be a great opportunity for personal and professional development. I'm looking forward to learning from our instructors and my classmates.
