Hispanic Heritage Month National COI reception
October 24, 2011
This past week I had the awesome privilege of attending the Hispanic Heritage Month National COI reception in Washington, D.C. This event, hosted by the U.S. Army Accessions Command, served to highlight contributions from Hispanic Soldiers to our Nation. The Under Secretary of the Army, the Honorable Dr. Joseph Westphal and LTG Rhett Hernandez, Commanding General U.S. Army Cyber Command, attended the reception along with numerous other outstanding supporters of the Army and the efforts to promote the educational, leadership, and career options and opportunities available through Army service. The event also recognized outstanding contributions by the League of Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF), and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). I was very humbled to be honored at the event as the Professor of Military Science of the Year for U.S. Army Cadet Command 2011. SSG Flores-Torres was also recognized for her outstanding contributions as a U.S. Army Recruiter.
