So we've been in New york at the fair since Saturday and we've had the oppurtunity to talk with thousands of men and women of all ages and I must say it's been a huge success. I'm very optimistic at the young men and women who have signed the dotted line already or have appointments set up in the next week or so to find the right job for them. The recruiters here are extremely knowledgeable and are willing to help anybody that steps up to the plate to join the best fighting force and best team the world has ever seen. lol Levi,

I'm currently on standby for basic training in November, and I've talked to at least three drill sergeants and they all say the same thing.

The United States Army is the most professional fighting force in the world.

And I'd like someone to try to argue about that.

Don't know.. some recruiters give em out like candy. I finished meps without getting one.

The recuiters are going to tell you what ever you want to hear. Some will make promises that have no value. This is done due to the recuiters being in a cushy job basically being able to do just about what they want. They have to enlist x-amount of people into the military every month. If that quota is not met the recuiter must return to his unit therefor leaving the cushy job. Not all of them are bad and lie but some of them will. What ever you do the best chance of you getting what has been promised to you is get it in your contract. There is no recuiter going to say that I am full of it cuse they know what I say is the truth. If you want it to happen get the recuiter to put it in your contract. If he wont do it then something is wrong with what he is telling you. The military has no problem honoring an agreement that has been written into your contract.

  Brian could be no farther away from the truth. Recruiting is in no way or fashion "cushy". True enough, recruiters are assigned a monthly, quarterly and yearly mission (I think quota was used). If mission is not met the last thing that will happen is that a recruiter will return to their unit (it would be nice if it were that easy). A detailed recruited is on assignment for three years and WILL finish out that detail...barring some type of emergency. If a monthly mission is not met, it simply carries over to the next month..along with longer days/nights and a lot of "higher ups" jumping up and down on your desk and putting even more pressure on you. In addition, the recruiter has nothing to do with a contract. That responsibility is charged to Guidance Counselors at your Battalion MEPS .

  There is some definite truth to what Brian is saying. Our daughter, and our son went in with guarenteed contracts with the Army with their MOS, communicated thru their recruiter. Some branches don't offer guarenteed contracts, but the Army does. As far as it being a cushy job..I don't think so. A good recruiter will work hard for you to get the job you want...but it has to be insisted by the person who wants to join. Getting your MOS is the most important step to joining...and a guarenteed contract is a must. Settle for nothing less. Also, asking about sign on bonus and college money is smart. If you don't ask, you don't get.

i can do 35 push ups ..with my weight 205 and a height of 5"7

then i can do 5 to 6 wide proper pull ups..then 10 to 12 close arm pull ups ..

i can do 50 to 60 sit ups in 2 minutes ..

run 1.5 miles in 12 minutes ..do u think i can fit in the army

About Me: I joined the Army a few days after 9/11 and shipped to basic training on halloween of 2001. Ive served in just about every Infantry position from rifleman to Airborne Infantry Platoon Sergeant. I am currently a Drill Sergeant at Fort Leonardwood, MO. but was recently chosen to join a program called the Drill Sergeant Exhibitor Program. Basically it is a program designed to send a select few Drill Sergeant around the country to events like Nascar, NHRA, state fairs, colleges and high schools telling the local populations our Army story and giving out the most recent information on today Basic Training. We are there basically to help recruiters get into the hard to reach places and to shatter the fears that young adults have of Basic Training since it is the number 2 reason in which young adults are afraid to join. So far the program looks very promising and sounds like a lot of work mixed with some fun and traveling. Look for me to add updates,stories, and future locations weekly.
