Dental and Inventory, Inventory and Dental

July 13, 2011

Day 10

Today was an administrative day for the 185thJAOBC.  We fell in early for the Dental Clinic or Uniform Inspection (your platoon determined which was first).  For those that didn’t have a full dental exam on file, one was completed.  For those that did, they were excused to go through the inventory checklist.  The opposite applied to the 1stPlatoon.

The inventory inspection was pretty straightforward.  We were given the list long ago, before reporting, and given ample opportunity to purchase the necessary items.  Some class members were still waiting for shipments (a receipt was good enough to prove possession).  At risk was a weekend pass during the first weekend of Phase II in Charlottesville.  No passing inspection = no weekend pass.

Tomorrow morning is our PT test.  The PT test will be used to gauge the physical fitness of each class member and to set up run groups for Phase II.  A failing score isn’t fatal, but it is important that each class member give 100% effort.  The tests start early and are staggered in three (3) chalks.

Some class members are also preparing for zero day on Saturday.  Zero day is the JAOBC competition for Airborne and Air Assault training slots and funding.  The notion of zero day is to try and push each participant to the edge to test physical fitness and endurance – well beyond what the PT test can gauge.  Anyone who passes the PT test tomorrow is eligible to compete.

We are really winding down here at Ft. Lee.  Tomorrow is administrative after the PT test and Thursday is all briefings.
