Runners....Take your positions.

The 185th JAOBC class has begun to assemble. We are staying in the Visiting Officer Quarters (VOQ) at Fort Lee. The VOQ is just a quick trip up Mahone Avenue from the Army Logistics University (ALU) where we will report tomorrow at 1200.

The VOQ is spread across a few buildings, and is much like a hotel. It isn’t the Ritz Carlton, but the rooms are large enough, clean, and equipped with a tv, dvd, vcr, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and wired internet access. The staff is friendly, and there is housekeeping on the weekends. There is also a breakfast hall a building over.

About two dozen of us went to a hibachi dinner to ease our way into our training. Needless to say we managed to spend our days per diem all in one meal. The food was good, and it was nice to get a chance to meet fellow classmates and get to know one another. It appears we have a really good group, and our time together should be rewarding, both personally and professionally.

As LT Harper and those that blogged before him did such a great job, I am not sure how much more I can add to the knowledge base. Nonetheless, I will add what I can where I can.

I can say that about two-thirds of my class members were part of a Facebook group prior to starting our course, and that allowed us to share knowledge, thoughts, and experiences beforehand. I recommend that future classes try to do the same. A lot of people have the same questions and concerns, and it allows folks a chance to profit from a shared knowledge base.

Tomorrow is the first day. As has been the case in the past the class will report to the ALU at 1200 in PT clothes to begin training. That should allow those arriving in the morning time to get here from the airport and settled, as well as let those of us already here a chance to sleep in one last time and enjoy breakfast before starting.

If nothing else, this is going to be an exciting new adventure for all of us.
