O Hill
July 28, 2009
I found out what it means to run O Hill today. Observatory Hill for the fortunate among you who have yet to be introduced. As you would assume, an observatory is usually at the top of a large hill, and this one is no exception! I actually cheated and drove up it this weekend as I wanted to see what all the hype was about(and because I have a fear of the unknown!)
Driving it was easier. :D
For Airborne/Air Assault PT today we were told we'd be doing a five mile run. The necessary time for Airborne school is 5 miles in 45 minutes. That is a decent pace for many of us, barely a jog for others. I fall into the former category! I was doing fine until we hit O Hill and then it became very clear that my legs were slowing waaaay down. I had to fall back. It bugs me to have to admit that. However, the very wise LT Kelly was kind enough to point out that 45 minutes is the goal and that the reason we are here is to work up to that. Great perspective!
