My Army Uniform is a Symbol of Strength

May 31, 2011

A symbol of strength is what my Army uniform is to me. Each and every day that I’m fortunate enough to put it on, I transform from an ordinary American citizen to an extraordinary American patriot. I’ am overwhelmed with pride just knowing  that every time I put my boots on, I step into a challenge that only a few are willing or able to take on. I jump into a world of opportunities whether it’s pursuing a strong education, or strengthening my leadership skills by navigating soldiers through missions on a daily basis. Every time the Army Combat Uniform is put on I am embraced into a long lineage of elite soldiers who instantly become my family. Whenever in doubt of why I do this, I just look at the American flag attached to the right shoulder of my uniform and remember my brothers in arms who served before me. Many of who paid the ultimate sacrifice. My uniform is always as close to perfection as I can get it because I realize that it represents more than just me. It’s also a reflection of a great legacy of Army Strong warriors that I have the honor to inheriting just by putting it on. This is why the Army uniform has always been before me, and will always be after me, a symbol of strength.

Great post, I just saw the new Army recruiting commercial, the same themes and messages are sent. Check it out when you see the new X men movie. It will be the trailer.

With 22 years in the military I still feel this way whenever I put on my uniform. I know what this uniform represents to the people of this country and always want to present the highest standard.

Its more than just a uniform. Its the symbol of the men and women who are willing to defend, with their lives if needed, the rights of our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, aunts, cousins, grandmothers, grandfathers, and those of the neighbors next door, and down the street, and 30 states away. We carry a heavy burden on our shoulders. Do your best to wear it well, with pride and honor.

Thank you so much Sergeant for that. I felt the same way when I wore my uniform. I was very proud to wear it and I'm very proud that I did serve. I was injured so did not serve as long as I would have liked but I did love every minute of it and I think about the military personnel everyday and want to say THANK YOU!
