Arctic Bandmaster: Pride through Music
March 13, 2011
Being a military musician boils down to 2 things: passion and service. We love music, we love our country, and we want to give all that we have to encourage the military and the community with the skills we have. We are Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, Sailors and Coast Guardsman serving and representing each one of you with music.
Military Music is important. Military musicians are currently stationed around the world in harms way… away from their families serving where we are called with music as the primary tool in our arsenal. Military musicians have been involved in every major military action in this country’s history.
…
Musicians are important to our US Army……
When you look at the seal of the US Army you will find a drum and 2 drum sticks directly under the US Flag. This signifies the importance of past Army musicians to move troops on the battlefield and our importance today to sustain and motivate our Soldiers.
When you talk to an Army Musician they will quickly get into a conversation and start talking about their role in the Army. They will proudly say that we are the Commanding General’s number one "weapon of peace." We can Nation Build and we can foster community relations, and we are the only unit in the Army inventory that can take a beat-down, tired, homesick door-kicker and instantly replace their expression with a smile… and…we can rekindle that fire of who they are, who they represent, and what they are fighting for…..
Army Musicians say more with less through our music……
Until next time...Arctic Warrior, Arctic Tough
