The Army has given me a chance to make a significant contribution to society.

August 4, 2011

Since my early childhood, I have always wanted to select a career that would give the privilege of making a positive contribution to society. The Army was without a doubt, the one career that offered me that opportunity to make a difference. By serving in the Army, I have been able to join the ranks of so many talented men and women that our nation has to offer. Together, we combine our efforts to provide our nation with the assurance that our way of life will prevail against all threats. The Army, in conjunction with our sister military services and government organizations, combine our efforts to extend beyond the roles of protecting our nation. We are always prepared, willing and determined to reach out to our communities in times of natural disasters or crisis with all available means to support our citizens. For these and many other reasons, I believe that the Army has enabled me to serve in a capacity where my contributions will benefit our society and eventually our future generations.

The Army has given me a chance to make significant contributions to society by giving me the principles of, “The Seven Army Values”. The seven Army values are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. I took the oath in college; today still swear allegiance to the U.S. constitution, the Army, and all the Soldiers defending our great country. Whatever obstacle or mission assigned to my Soldiers and me, I would assume responsibility for my actions and others in accomplishing the mission and fulfilling my duty to the commander. I have always lived by, “You gain respect by giving respect to others”. I do not look down on anybody, and I am respectful of others at all times. I will always put the welfare of the Soldiers first, and will not make them do something I would not do myself. I will be the first to participate with the Soldiers in all activities involving mission success, if need be. I live my military and civilian life by the Army values. In addition to, what my parents have taught me in order to live a successful life. Depicted, as an honorable person is how I would like to known; that stood for what was right, and took care of my Soldiers and family. Integrity is the tuff in our military environment, and the one that I have to fight with the most. As an Officer, faced with integrity issues daily, how you handle them will determine how successful you are. In today’s military environment, one is challenged with all kinds of obstacles that will test your their personal courage. Having to explain to the civilian boss or the commander why something went wrong with you or your Soldier is a tuff situation. Combat missions in Iraq also tested my personal courage and my Soldiers on a daily bases.
