ILE experience at Fort Gordon

June 9, 2011

I’m currently at the tail end of my resident ILE experience at the FT. Gordon Satellite site and felt the need to highlight a few tidbits of information. Upfront, I would like to thank the faculty (LTC Restall, Mr. Reece, Mr. Montesclaros & Dr. Carter) for setting the conditions for an absolute awesomely experience as a student in Staff Group 31-D. Besides learning curriculum specific information, drawing knowledge from the myriad of branches within my 16 personnel small group was priceless. The knowledge acquired and friendships established from the 120+ days of interaction with the, MD, Ranger, Lawyer, SF, Medical & FAO communities to name a few, provided vast insights from real-world experiences (unclassified versions) that greatly enhanced the curriculum from a classroom point of view. However, I would be remise if I failed to account for the lessons learned by indulging in conversations in every subject from politics to leadership while bowling, over dinner, during lunch, hanging out with the breakfast club, to include my infamous work out team, affectionately known as the “The House of Pain”. A resounding HOOAH - goes out to “The House of Pain”, as their commitment to teamwork during multiple runs and while conducting Insanity and P90X workouts assisted in my shedding of roughly 15lbs. to date.
