People I work with in the clinic
December 2, 2008
Let me show you around the dental clinic at Ft. Belvoir. The dental clinic is named after our second Dental Corps Chief – COL William Logan (1917-19). Currently there are 4 active duty dentists, 1 contract dentist, and 1 government service dentist. In addition to that we have 4 hygienists, 2 prophy techs, and many other great staff members.

Colonel Holzer is our Officer in Charge (OIC). He went to dental school in West Virginia. He is the one that runs the clinic. He is a comprehensive dentist.

Captain Schloffman recently volunteered to deploy to Iraq for 6 months. He went to dental school at VCU. He will be back next spring. He completed the 12 month AEGD program at Ft Jackson. Ms. Miner his assistant didn’t want to be photographed (witness protection??)

Captain Maddox graduated last year from dental school in Indiana. He also volunteered for deployment, and left last month. He will return from Iraq next spring also.

When I took these other clinic pictures, Major Marino was still deployed to Afghanistan. He has recently returned, but I don’t have a picture – so this will have to do. Dr. Marino came into the Army with 29 years of private practice experience – wanted a change of pace.

This is Dr. Johnson. She’s the one that stitched me up on Thanksgiving. She is the newest dentist in our clinic – just moved up from Florida.

I don’t remember why I don’t have a picture of Dr. Gant – I’ll have to get one later.

This is my assistant Shirley. She schedules my patients, and keeps me on my toes. She is great to work.
