Second half of C4
May 10, 2010
Following the first 3 days of ATLS, we commenced with the C4 portion of the training. I had shown pictures of our quarters. As far as food goes we had 2 different options. Some days we ate at the dining facility which was pretty good. Most of the other time we had meals ready to eat (MRE) (my favorite was beef enchilada). Many of the attendees chose to go over to a BBQ stand that was set up close by and not eat the MREs at dinner time. As you can see it wasn't exactly a "field environment". We had access to showers and flushing toilets (although the toilets were lined up facing each other and there was no door to close for privacy :) - I guess it was so you could help motivate your buddy if he was having a hard time and needed encouragement :)
Most mornings we were up around 0500 with the exception of the morning we did PT when we got up at 0400 (4 am). Whether wasn't too bad - usually in the high 80's/low 90's usually with a little breeze. Several times we had power point presentations in the theater across the street. We also did a lot of hands on training with our gas masks and chemical gear, chemical decontamination, taking apart the m16 and 9 mm, simulated triage and treatments of patients, simulated medical procedures on simulated patients.
