The changing face of dental schools

March 23, 2010

This post has nothing to do with the Army - just something that is bugging me.

It seems like everything is for sale in our country.  Dental schools are no different.  Whether that is good, bad, or the future - I don't know.  This hit home several years ago when the dental school I went to (Temple) was "bought".  Someone donated 10 million dollars, and now the dental school I went to is no longer Temple School of Dentistry - it is called the Kornberg School of Denistry at Temple.  Yesterday in the mail I also received a fund raising flyer from them stating that other parts of the school were for sale as well :)  I am attaching the list in case anyone else wants to "buy in" - regardless of whether or not you are a dentist.

So if you have some spare cash laying around - here you go.

In addition to Temple (the name I still use), USC school of dentistry was bought this year for 35 million.  It's new name is Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC.  At least Dr. Ostrow had been an Army Dentist :)

So what's next?  Maybe the Piggly Wiggly, 7-11, or Sonic can be named after you if the price is right :)
