At last, we have finally reached the day before the game! Today I will be heading off to Philly right after classes, and could not be more excited!

Last night we the corps sent off the football team with a huge boat burning and one last cheer of " On Brave Old Army Team".

Below are some images from the Boat Burning!

Hey all! Today I attended the quarterback luncheon down at Ike Hall! The quarterback luncheon is a way for the general public to come in close contact with head football coach Rich Ellerson. During quarterback luncheons everyone comes and eats lunch then the band and rabble rousers ( cheerleaders) burst in the room and pump everyone up for the weeks upcoming game. After all this is done Rich Demarco introduces Head Coach Rich Ellerson who says a little about the game at hand then becomes open for questions.

Below is a picture of Department of Physical Education's Master of the Sword Colonel Daniels asking Coach Ellerson the first question of the luncheon.

Below is a picture of Head Army Football Coach Rich Ellerson answering his first question.

Below is Athletic director Kevin Anderson and Rich Demarco thanking several individuals who have supported Army athletics.

Below are a couple of pictures of the Army Rabble Rousers or cheerleaders pumping up the crowd. I have also posted a clip of the opening of the QB luncheon in order for everyone to get a feel for the event.

Hey all! So tonight was the long awaited Goat-Engineer games! The games consist of goats, who are cadets with a GPA under 3.0, while the engineers are cadets who possess GPAs higher than a 3.0. There is a women's flag football game, which consists of girls from every team in the corps. The men's game is a football game in full pads also consisting of guys from the corps. Both teams train for about 3 weeks for this huge event. Needless to say the weather today was not very accommodating to the games. Both teams played in a snow later turned to slush covered field.

It was exciting to see the entire corps out there supporting their fellow member of the long gray line!

Below are some pictures from the game!

The women's teams discussing strategy!

The goats in a huddle

Both Goat and Engineer women's teams after the game!

Hopefully weather in Philly is better this Saturday! Women's Army Basketball plays Oklahoma tomorrow night so I will be sure to post updates!

GO ARMY!

BEAT NAVY!

Hey my name is Kyra and I'm a third year cadet at the United States Military Academy. I am originally an army brat, but claim the beautiful city of Austin, Texas as my home.

I have two brothers:

Kyle ( left)  is a sophomore pre-med student at the University of Texas

Clayton(left) is a senior in high school with intentions of ending up at West Point

I have three parents. My mom is named Julie, my dad is Ray, and my step-dad is Murphey. All of whom I love very much. In our family we also have two dogs that we treat as the babies of the family and their  name are Mac and Kakoi. My mom and step-dad live and work in Austin, while my dad lives in New York and just so happens to be the boxing coach here at West Point.

Now that ya'll know a little bit about where I come from let me introduce myself and my life at the academy.

I am an environmental science major, and play lacrosse. In my free time I enjoy going out with friends, listening to music, and finding interesting things to do over the weekend.

Below are my closest friends at the academy. I can attribute my sanity to these girls. This picture is from the recent Christmas dinner we had at the academy.

From left to right : Me, Kathryn,Nalini, and Jess

Below are some of my lacrosse team mates and me at the Air Force academy right before leaving the stadium to go to the football game. The women's lacrosse team beat Air Force 14-7.

From left to right  Jill, Me,Tara,Lovechild,Emeline,Snook, and Brigid

Besides going out with friends I frequent my time seeing my boyfriend Steve.

Steve is not only a cadet at West Point, but just so happens to be apart of the Army Football team.

So now that you know who I am as a cadet and at home if you don't mind I'd like to post my first offcial blog (ever).

Just a little link about this week:

Hey everyone,

So today is day 2 of Army/Navy week. Right now what I have planned for the day is class followed by an exciting 2 hours of march - on practice for the game. It feels like 40 degrees right now and as of now the game in Philly is supposed to be in the low 30s. Awesome.

However, what is exciting about tonight is

The premiere of Invictus will be showing tonight down at Ike Hall. Now I heard it's supposed to be a future " Oscar Nominee". However, until I see the movie there is only one thing that I find intriguing...

Well, I will be sure to write a just review for this premiere and let ya'll know if it is worthy of the title of being a future" Oscar Nominee". This is a really busy week, and balancing the weight of studying for finals for next week and dealing with all the excitment of leaving to Philly to watch the game can be a bit stressful. I'll be sure to keep ya'll posted on any spirit activities that take place during the week!

GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!
