Finally, my first letter on this site, not from the lack of trying, but for the lack of resources, a luxury that I so dearly miss from back home. I have had the opportunity of exploring various villages with the Cavalry unit I'm attached to, and even participated in many dismounted patrols, while in route to the villages District Centers (DC). About Me: Entered the Army in 1973 as a 13B/Field Artillery Crewman, later on changed MOS to 19K/Armor Crewman, then later to 62B/Amphibious Operator and finally to
19D/Cavalry Scout, thinking this will end my carreer with the Army.
Only after taking 20years off from the military, and loosing a loved one in these wars, I decided to return at 50 years of age, so that another young man won't have to be here.
I am now 55, holding the rank of SSG, would have been a CSM by now had I stayed in, but, I'm ok with it.
I am also on my fifth MOS, 38B/Civil Affairs Specialist, and currently stationed in Nangarhar, Afghanistan, at FOB Hughie.
I have four girls of 36, 29, 23 and 13, and three sons of 33, 20 and 19, as well as three grandchildren 18 y.o, boy, a 13 y.o. girl and my little one, a girl of 1 year.
I am a Nuclear Specialist, in my civilian life, of which I have been at for over 29 years.
I recommend anyone who is contemplating reentering the military to do so, for "Honor and Pride".
