MSIII year and Biathlon

April 21, 2011

I am a ROTC cadet at the University of Toledo, in my third year. This year I am learning about OPORD's and preparing myself for LDAC. This weekend we had our JFTX with Bowling Green. I felt this was really good training integrating us with other people we have not work with before, BG had different ideas to bring to the table and although it was cold and raining all weekend the learning experience was amazing. This year I have also had the opportunity to join the Ohio National Guard biathlon team. This has given me a chance to travel, meet a lot of new people, and also find a new hobby that I enjoy. The biathlon consists of cross country skiing and shouting. For one of the individual race for female is the 7.5K, where each skier skies a loop come in shouts five 50 meter targets in the prone, skies another loop then come in for off-hand. Then off the range again and into the finally loop. When enter the range I take my time so that I can get my heart rate down before shouting. With the season of biathlon over I have receive two first place novice division and a third place in the females. Now that the snow has melted I plan on training with my new roller skies.
