Heading into my trip to Iowa I’ll admit, I wasn't exactly thrilled. The trip was sandwiched between two of my more "exciting" locations. While in Charlotte a few weeks ago I met a nice girl from Iowa who actually had promised that Iowa wasn’t just cornfields and she didn’t grow up on a farm. I smiled and pretended to believe her, but deep down I had to go see this for myself. Turns out, Iowa does have large buildings, schools, and...read more

NOTE: I am a terrible writer, please be patient as I just write and post ;). I know a lot of these stories on this site aren’t written from this perspective about losing people, but I just wanted people to know who a friend of mine was and thought this was a great forum to do it. I recently just found out a good friend of mine from my days in the 82ndairborne division was killed in Afghanistan. He didn’t die recently, but died over a year ago. It...read more

This past week I spent in Charlotte, NC. I had been to Charlotte before during my days in the 82nd Airborne Division. Definitely is a great city, I actually almost moved there for college, but due to my Mom home won out on that battle! Tony will be racing again this weekend in Charlotte and is looking to have some great runs I had the honor of meeting the Sergeant Major of the Army, a former Sec of Defense, CSM Moore (USAREC...read more

On saturday we did some combatives training. Modern Army Combatives is based in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and other forms of martial arts. Today I haven't done much except work out and then get ready for my upcoming trip to Indianapolis. It's hot here in Georgia now for these soldiers, but they are pushing through and giving their all. It is exciting to see them shed weight and give 100%. I might even miss the job a little while i'm traveling, but not the hours...read more
