All-American Push up contest video. Army beats Players at AAB
January 6, 2011
So today was the first day of actual work here in San Antonio, TX in support of the All-American Bowl. I really had no clue how large and elaborate of an event this would be here. The Army basically finds what amounts to 4 and 5 star recruits in football to come play in a game in San Antonio to reward them for all their accomplishments and introduce them to Soldiers and vice versa. I didn’t realize that the Army brought down a hometown hero for every player that is here and pair them up during the weeks festivities. It’s a great way to get some Soldiers a break and reward them for all that they have done.
Myself and the of DS’s from the Drill Sergeant Exhibitor Program will be working in the VERY large Strength in Action Zone for most the weekend. Today we had the privilege of being able to help judge quite the physical fitness/eating challenge with some heroes and players. I’m proud to say that I’m pretty sure the heroes outperformed the players in the pushup and situp contests, but were out done a little in the eating contest. It was all in good fun and everyone had a blast doing it. It was very high energy and was a great way to get everyone involved with the Army messaging while we are here.
My night ended with a great dinner with some old friends on the riverwalk. It was nice catching up and also meeting some new people. I have to be getting to bed because the Strength in Action Zone is operation at 0600 (6 am) tomorrow and this guy is still used to holiday vacation schedule of sleeping in!
Stay tuned as the Lions Pro-Bowl Defense Tackle Ndamukong Suh is supposed to be in the area, and I’m on the hunt for a firm handshake and maybe an autograph!
