Sergeant Major of the Army, Former Sec of Defense, and Tony Schumacher in Indianapolis
September 14, 2010
Finished up my trip to Indianapolis last week and wanted to give an update on the weekend NHRA drag races. Tony Schumacher, the Army driver, lost in the semi finals I believe. He had great runs throughout the day, but it's one and done after qualifying so anything can happen. Tony will be racing again this weekend in Charlotte and is looking to have some great runs
I had the honor of meeting the Sergeant Major of the Army, a former Sec of Defense, CSM Moore (USAREC CSM), and Tony Schumacher all that weekend. It was definitely an honor and a blast all weekend long. I helped run the pushup area of the Strength in Action Zone, where we had people from 3 years old to about 65 years old doing their best to show us if the were Army STRONG. Some were, some weren't. Overall I was surprised at how many people showed the mental toughness to get up in front of a crowd and give 100%.
The highlight of my weekend was working with the YES program. It is a program the Army does at races with drivers and soldiers on a panel talking to youth about the importance ofleadership, teamwork, planning, and education. I think it's a great program and even though the Army knows most those kids aren't joining the Army it sends a good message and hopefully a few kids thought about their future a little bit that day that weren't doing it before. I definitely would consider that a success.
This week i'm traveling to Charlotte, NC. I'm hoping the people around here are as impressive as the ones I met in Indianapolis. I definitely invite anyone in the area to come out to the track this weekend and see the stuff we have set up. I will give updates throughout the week.

Nobody is too young to try to be Army STRONG

Or too old for that matter!

Come out to the races in Charlotte and you can hang out with these ladies too!
