Fall 2010: MS IV Year at Creighton University.
September 6, 2010
Tomorrow begins our second week of classes here at Creighton. Tomorrow we have our Pre-Marksmanship Instruction lab and we seniors will be teaching the cadets along with Soldiers from the Nebraska Army National Guard.
I, along with my Guard counterpart, will be teaching the cadets on the beam hit trainer. It allows Soldiers to focus on the fundamentals of Basic Rifle Marksmanship and connect all the techniques.
We’ve been through one Leadership Development Program rotation, and I am responsible for evaluating the cadet squad leaders in 1st Platoon, 3rd Squad of Creighton University’s Blackwolves Battalion.
In two weeks we find out whether we have been branched Active Duty or USAR/ARNG. I’m hoping for an Active Duty slot!
On Friday we will compete with the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Air Force ROTC unit in the Fall 2010 Army-Air Force Challenge at UNO. It’s great to get together with our brothers-in-arms for some healthy competition!
Hopefully we’ll be victorious once again!
This week, we lost a graduate of the Blackwolves Battalion in Afghanistan. 1LT Mark Noziska was killed by an IED blast in Kandahar. Here at Creighton we send our prayers and condolences to his family. We all knew him as a good man and an excellent leader. He was a great teacher and mentor to all. My MS IV class remembers him fondly. He made the ultimate sacrifice for his country and his flag, and we will do all we can to honor him.
