On my way to LDAC 2010!

June 13, 2010

On my way to Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) and thought I’d write a quick blog post:

Today I begin LDAC, U.S. Army ROTC’s Leadership Development and Assessment Course, the capstone training exercise for Army cadets. I’m going through LDAC with the 2nd Regiment, from 14 Jun-12 Jul.

After completing LDAC, I will head to Ft Leonard Wood with the 5th Engineer BN of the 4th Manuever Enhancement Brigade to conduct Cadet Troop Leader Training, an internship-like shadowing experience for cadets entering their senior year of college. I will be paired with a platoon leader who will show me what it’s really like to lead a platoon of real soldiers. I very much look forward to the experience.

LDAC will be challenging, but I expect to learn a lot from my fellow cadets and from the training cadre. Cadet Command has some great instructors and I know I have a lot to learn. I pray that I have prepared enough over the past 3 years for this course.

I will be tested, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I’ll keep a journal and try to share some of my experiences when I complete training in July.

You can check out “LDAC 2010” on Facebook for news and pictures from JBLM. Wish us luck!
