DS Tello aka Mr. Mom

October 27, 2010 | Sergeant First Class Mahoma Tello

So for the past few days I have been Mr. Mom (eat your heart out Michael Keaton).  My wife is at the Annual AUSA Military Family Symposium in Washington D.C. while I get house duties.  I get my girls ready for school, do their hair (yes ladies and gentlemen, I do my girls hair) feed them breakfast and take them to school, cook dinner and chores.  It looks like the roles have been reversed for a few days.  Now I know how my wife feels when I am away on TDY, and now she knows how it feels how it is to be TDY when you are steadily occupied doing events and have no time to call and chat.  It is not bad, getting up early is not hard, what is hard is getting my five year old to get dressed, she likes to take her time, patience indeed is a virtue.  Not only am I a Drill Sergeant, but a father, and it only makes me better as a Soldier.

My wife returns on Thursday and I head out to Cincinnati, OH Thursday evening, I will be at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) for a few days and luckily get to enjoy Halloween with the family.
