Shenandoah County Fair - Future Soldier Oath of Enlistment/TNA Wrestling

September 4, 2010

I had an awesome time out at the fair today.  Very eventful I must say.  I met a lot of great future Soldiers and they had some excellent questions about Basic Training.  The future Soldiers got a little taste of Basic Training, Drill Sergeant style.  I was very geeked because I met Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, the Abyss, amongst others from TNA Wrestling.  The TNA Wrestling personnel are very supportive of the military and the future Soldiers got a chance to get autographs and take pictures with the wrestlers.  It was an awesome experience to be with such a crowd.  I would also like to thank the Winchester Recruiting Station for having me there, and the folks from the Baltimore Recruiting Battalion PAO for taking some great shots of the event.

With Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy.

Future Soldiers taking the Oath of Enlistment.

The crowd kept on chanting "USA, USA", it was awesome!!!

It was an amazing experience to have you there. Learning about how basic training was a relief to know its mainly a mind game and that its a matter of time for us to get through it. Making you laugh about my future "husband" the pope was the highlight of my life as a future soldier. I wish you the best and I hope to see you in the future. Hooah

The beginning of that day was admittedly slow. Once we started practicing formations, I really got into the spirit of things. I loved going over the Soldier's Creed. Once the rest of the Future Soldier's got into it, it was quite an experience. Getting rid of our nerves with dry jokes and interesting stories during the TNA event, and walking out to that crowd was exhilarating. At first I was super nervous, especially about being in the front there. I'm glad we had your lead to follow. I truly appreciate you coming out there and helping us Drill Sergeant.
