Shenandoah County Fair - Veterans Tribute Day/Honoring Future Soldiers

September 2, 2010

Hello everyone, today I had the privilege of meeting future Soldiers as well as marching them onto a Grandstand Ceremony honoring veterans from the past, present and future.  Not only did I get to march future Soldiers but I also marched future Sailors onto the ceremony.  The recruiters from both the Army and the Navy are very awesome and they work hand in hand, solidifying one team, one fight.  I also had a chance to speak to the future Soldiers and answer their questions on what to expect from Basic Training.  These future Soldiers are ready to go to BCT, learn Army values and become a Soldier.

While at the Army tent, an awesome boy scout challenged the Recruiter and the Drill Sergeant in a duel of push-ups.  Needless to say, he has great form!

I also had the honor to talk to Vietnam and Gulf War I era veterans and they are proud of what we are doing for our country as we are proud of what they have done, serving with honor.

I must say it was a good surprise to have you there with us Drill Sergeant. I'm glad you were there to march us into the ceremony, and I truly appreciated the opportunity to ask you a few questions and get some straight answers. I'm proud to have met you, and wish you the best of wishes on your continued career and to your family.
