Life On The Forward Operating Base
July 25, 2010
've been here at FOB Fenty (right by Jalalabad, Afghanistan) for about two months now. Life here isn't too bad. Most ot the people here live in what we call "B Huts", small plywood buildings scattered around the base. We have a small dining faciltiy (it's not home cooking but it's pretty good); no fast food places here! We also have a few small gyms, and of course a Post Exchange ( a small store that carries the basics of what we might need).
One thing here,it's a small base. You get to know everyone pretty quick. We have US service members from the Army, Air Force, Marines and Navy. We also have many civlians here who work for varous compnies supporting our efforts in Afghanistan.
It's s been hot and humid here! The average temperature right now is over 100 degrees for a high. It rains but not very often and usually not for long. Can't wait to see what the winters are like.
