Soldier Blog Post

Public Affairs Officer, 1st Brigade Combat Team 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)

July 12, 2010

I've been here in Afghanistan for almost two months now.  This is my third deployment; I've been to both Iraq and Kuwait previously.  This is where the "rubber meets the road."  I'm constanly in awe of the men and women I'm lucky enough to serve with over here.  Their dedication to the mission and each other is inspiring.

Later on I'll let you know how I happened into this career and way of life.  I count my blessing every day that I can do what I do!

Mary, looking forward to reading your blog! Make sure to let us know what is going on in RC-East with the 101st. I had the chance to get out to FOB Fenty, Jalalabad, and Torkham, earlier this year. Lots going on in that area, we were looking at the logistics piece coming in through Torkham.

Mary, can't wait to read what you're up to there! I remember reading about tents and plywood buildings at at FOB Fenty years back. What are living conditions like for Soldiers there these days?

We can't give out information like that. However, I would contact the nearest Red Cross Office and ask for their assistance in getting a message to your grandson. Hopefully then he would contact you in repsone and let you know what he's up to. I hope this helps!
