Why I Volunteered to be a Recruiter & convert to 79R..

August 19, 2010

Hello all,

My name is SFC Mike Wiggins & I am a Master Trainer for the Jacksonville Recruiting Battalion in Jacksonville, FL.

In 2002, I volunteered to be an US Army Representative because I wanted to help people & tell the Army Story. As a U.S. Army Representative I have helped many men & women with their lives by showing them how the US Army will hopefully make their life easier. What makes my job so rewarding is when a man or woman returns from graduating Basic Training & Advance Individual Training and they look me in the eye, standing tall, looking good and say to me "Thank you for helping me".

I will be posting blogs about my recruiting experiences and hopefully help some people out either enlisting into the Army or giving guidance to recruiters/station commanders to maximize their potential in their markets.

Do you know if there is a statue of limitation law for how long that a positve on the drug test at meps for maja(?) should remain on your file? It has been 7 years since my husband had a positive for marija(?). Since then he has went to college and got his degree, met me and got married, and now we have 3 kids. He really wants to get into the army. When we went to talk to a recruiter it was in the system as having him enlisted already. He swore in once. From my understanding to be awol you need to swear in twice. can anyone please help? Thank you.

    Stacy,

With your case, if you have a Facebook Account add me (www.facebook.com/Wiggins79) I need to ask certain questions so I can point you in the right direction & I do not like to put people's personal business out on the web.

    SFC Wiggins,

I'm a curreny SSG and have been looking into converting tio 79R. I'm our Unit's Retention NCO for one of my additional duties and I love helping the Soldiers out with reenlisting and seeing them make progress in their careers. We are currently deployed and I have been talking to my career counselor about doing this, butI would like to talk to a 79R about several questions that I have. Would you be willing to help me out with answering them? Thanks for your time!
