Everyone wants to talk to a West Point Cadet

                One thing that I have noticed is that everyone wants to talk to a West Point Cadet. When I graduate in May I feel as though I will be getting a demotion. People will go out of their way to meet up with me just because of where I go to school, but next year I will be a butter bar at the bottom of the barrel. I remember talking to a friend who did an AIAD at the pentagon, I don’t know if I have all of these details right or not, but when the secretary of defense saw him he told his secretary/assistant (a former graduate) to free up his schedule for the next hour, and sat down with the Cadet to talk with him. While here at Walmart I have met up with many high up officials, and the way that I got my foot in the door was because someone told them that I was a Cadet here from west Point. While I was with them though they only want to talk about West Point. Don’t get me wrong, I am honored that I can go to such a great school that is so distinguished, but I do like to talk about things besides that. I would rather talk about business with someone or maybe even football or politics rather than what it was like not being able to talk outside for my first year of college. This is part of the reasons why I was very happy when they never asked us to come in wearing our uniform, we are more than just Cadets, which is what we would have been seen as thereafter, we are interns.

                I do recognize though that it is the fact that I go to West Point that I get many of the great opportunities that I do. Because of that I am very happy to say that I am a Cadet and am willing to talk with people about that, just not that alone.
