Cobra Company 201st BSB is Prepared For Their Mission
January 10, 2011
Prior to my first deployment, my biggest fear, as a medic, was that I would freeze up when I had a casualty in front of me with his life in my hands. Within days of being in theater, I had three casualties at once, all with life-threatening injuries. I was amazed at how calm I was and how flawlessly the treatment went. All three casualties lived. I realized then that the constant / repetitive training that I had done months prior was the reason for that success. You have got to train, train, train until you are so proficient that even the most difficult task becomes monotonous.
The Soldier Medics of C Company have reached this point. I am sure they are feeling the same worry I once felt, having not been fully tested, but I have the confidence in them to be just as flawless. They have been through some of the most realistic and stressful medical training the Army can provide...and then some! I look forward to watching them when they realize their hard work has paid off, and they go from nervous to confident.
