Yesterday I finally arrived back in the U.S from Thailand after a long couple of flights. The flight back gave me a great opportunity to reflect on the things I did and the friends I made at CRMA. The last couple of days included farewell parties and personal goodbyes. Waving goodbye at the airport to our Thai cadet sponsors while coming back to States was bittersweet. This past weekend our group was fortunate enough to have visited the actual bridge over the Kwai River in Kanchanaburi, on which the movie ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ was based off of. The bridge was built as part of the Burmese Railway project, constructed during WWII by the Japanese to bring supplies from Singapore to the front. It’s been two weeks since our group has arrived in Thailand. I haven’t posted in awhile because the site has had some technical difficulties but I am up and running now. I've been having a blast being surrounded by such a different culture than what I am used it in the United States or in Europe. Greetings from Ft. Knox! On the eve of our departure to Thailand, our group of 11 cadets are preparing for a long and, of course, tiring, flight across the Pacific Ocean. About Me: Hi! I’m a ROTC cadet enrolled at George Washington University in our nation’s capital, Washington D.C, but I am originally from New Jersey. I will be a junior in fall 2011 and an MSIII in my ROTC battalion at Georgetown University. I will be blogging on Cadet Command’s Cultural Language Program (CULP) trip to Thailand this July. Traveling the world has been a dream of mine and the U.S Army has definitely helped me accomplish this. I have been able to go to Greece and Turkey as part of a GW study abroad program, Airborne School at Ft. Benning GA, and now my Thailand trip as part Cadet Command's CULP program. Hopefully, I will be able to make the Army a career.
