Chaplain Internship Program

October 9, 2010

This summer I had the opportunity to go to Ft Carson as a part of the Chaplain Internship Program offered by CTLT. During this month long adventure, I shadowed a couple of the Chaplains attached to the 4th ID. They gave me some very valuable experiences that I will never forget. Some of this experience came from the field, some of it from Garrison and some from simply having conversations with everyone in the department. This experience was great for my motivation. It also solidified my decision to become a Chaplain, regardless of the long road ahead. I am incredibly grateful for being allowed this opportunity. If you (the reader) have an opportunity to attend additional training events like the Chaplain Internship Program, I would highly recommend it. It might be life changing, and if its not, you now have the additional training and a common reference point with other Soldiers who have been there too.

In your bio desription you mentioned that you will commission soon and attend seminary. Are you doing that through ROTC Education Delay? If you are could you give any insight about what it all entails, like pay during seminary, time commitment during seminary, and after graduation? Thank you.

I applied to the chaplaincy internship program this year since I am going to LDAC this summer. Unfortunately I was notified that this year only ONE cadet in the entire nation was chosen for this internship. I believe this has to do with the Army down sizing. What is the point of a program that only accepts one cadet in the nation for a program that many could benefit from?
