Charity and Fashion
October 5, 2009
Life in Germany never ceases to amaze me. I recently had surgery on my elbow so I have had the opportunity to spend some quality time with little Logan (my son). My mother also flew out here to help me take care of him. On one of our walks we saw a lady wearing a lime green dress with pink polka-dots! It was quite the site to say the least. I know European fashion is all the rave, but after seeing that I think I will continue to buy American!
Another highlight of my week, I discovered a wonderful organization based out of my hometown in Colorado Springs called The Home Front Cares. They helped the wife of one of my good friends out here in Germany. They had been going through some rough times financially with a new baby and her husband deployed, and The Home Front Cares stepped in and not only helped them out with food and groceries but also took care of their car payment for the month! I was happy to hear there were great organizations like that out there helping our families while we are away. She told me about their fundraising dinner in November with General Petraeus, but I don't with my surgery there is no way I can go. Fortunately I can donate the money I would have spent on a ticket via their website, that way they can continue to help soldiers and their families in need.
Speaking of families, I want to give a shout out to my wonderful family and let them know how much I love and miss them!
